Earth Hour is when people turn off the lights in their home, business, office building, tourist attactions for a single hour at a stated time...so in the UK it is 8.30 pm...millions of people all over th world take part...areas in the same time zone do it at the same time and it is a global response to the climate change.
If you search google for earth hour you will find pictures from all over the world of places like the harbour bridge with its lights off/dimmed.
Hope that helps
Marie

I'd like to say that we took part in Earth hour but we actually switch all of our lights off (well, lights in our room and the corridor because I live with my parents) every night from about 8, if I not making things of course, as we both get headaches from strong lights anyway. So for about 4 hours every night we have candles and oil burners instead of lights on!

We switched everything off. I had a candlelit bath and my daughter fell asleep on her bed, dreaming of vampires (the handsome sexy hollywood kind!) Brilliant fun and we may do it again tonight!
