I have just received an email from an event organiser stating that they obtained my details from a craft fair this weekend - that would be great if I attended one - maybe it was my twin

Could they have been chatting to another stallholder who gave them your details as someone who may be interested in a stall if it is local to you?
Otherwise, I suspect it is that they have either copied an e-mail sent to someone else and forgotten to change some of the text or simply mixed up where they obtained your details.

If you are looking for events to sell at, it is not too serious! Was it an offer of a place at a craft fair?

We have seen lots of people who run other markets going around collecting the business cards of booths they'd like to have at their own fair, and then they go to your website and get your email address...they send a "form email" much like a form letter...and they probably get behind in sending them. I bet that's all it is.
One couple came by this past weekend and handed us an application and explained they wanted us at their market. I think they were looking for strictly hand-makers.
