Polymer clay isn't really designed to be weatherproof as such, but in reality it doesn't do a bad job at it.
The mobile that the squirrel stole had been out in all weathers for at least 2 or 3 years without any ill-effects whatsoever. It turned out that it was way more weather proof than squirrel proof :p
Because it is a plastic, it is inherently quite water-resistant. But baked polymer clay is still somewhat porous, and could therefore be susceptible to frost damage over time, especially if there are lots of nooks and cranies for water to get into and freeze/ expand.
My mobile was relatively flat and hanging so less prone to water pooling in it that many things would be.
Likewise some colours might fade in the sunlight over time.
So for me - whilst I would happily make clay things for my own garden, I don't know that I would feel comfortable selling them.
