.......What do you listen to?
I'm humming along to Richie Wermerling as I sew ( erstwhile frontman for '90's group, Let Loose) he's got a great voice....brilliant cd.
I'd like that Neil Diamond compilation cd on the tv ads, and I'm also chasing Kaiser Chiefs new one, and Josh Groban's latest.

Hi i tend to go for somthing gentle and relaxing. Can you imagine the paint effects that i would get if i listened to heavy metal lol. Not that im anti heavy metal or anything. Still might give it a go one day you never know i might discover a new technique:sm:

It has to be loud, or else I doze off!!
My favourites to listen to at the moment are Green Day, American Idiot and the soundtrack to Trainspotting. Never seen the film, but I love the soundtrack! And Blue Oyster Cult is also good!

Quite into Snow Patrol at the moment, a little bit of the Kasier Chiefs, partial to Razorlight. And Jules I've got that Neil Diamond CD not bad. I actually went to see him in conert last year (and no I am not 65). He can still belt out the hits even though he is in his 60's.
Have to say though the Scissor Sisters is on the CD right now though. But after a rough night last night the last thing I feel like doing is bl**dy well dancing though. My stomach feels liike it is going through the spin cycle in the washing machine.

Think yourself lucky!
Wouldn't it be awful if you went out on a hen night to norwich in a limosine with a bunch of people you hardly know (apart from the bride to be) and got so drunk you filled about 4 carrier bags with - erm - bodily fluids all the way home.
Spin Cycle? think the whole world is a roundabout.
Embarrassed? Moi?
Just a tad................

ICG; What state was the Bride to be in?:o
Neil Diamond in concert sounds great Lisa!, I went to some great concerts years ago at the Apollo (think it's gone now...) I saw Police, The Jam, Duran Duran, Nick Kershaw, loads.....those were the days!
I've got Snow Patrol on cd, but the daughter borrowed it and it looks like an ice rink it's got so many scratches...only a few tracks play
I'm stuck in the 90's right now..dug out the Let Loose cds...;)
Anything with a good beat is great for whizzing along on the sewing machine!:D

Can you believe i was the only one to get in such a state!! Think i did her a favour really - i mean what kind of hen night would it be without someone puking?? At least it gives her something to tell everyone about!!
Oh and as for music (get back to the point of the thread!) I usually listen to radio 2 but i was going to concerts in the days of Simple Minds at Wembley Arena Oh what fun we had!!!

Hi Jules,
Neil Diamond was brilliant. I saw some brilliant acts at the Apollo too, Big Country, Howard Jones, Paul Young to name but a few. Those were the days.
Yep the Apollo as been pulled down for quite a few years now. They have a huuuuuugggggeeee multi screen, multi floor cinema their it is called the UGC or something glamourous like that. It is massive 4 or 5 levels I think.

The concert was brilliant. I think we may have helped to pull to Apollo down that night, I don't know how many times I was told to stop dancing on the seats!!!!
A real shame about Stuart though. Just shows you that money and talent don't mean that you will be happy. Just as well I don't have much of either then!!!

Ow, I know the memories, big hair, big shoulder pad, poor taste!!
I just saw that 101 80's album advertised this morning. I quite fancy it too. I have most of the singles that are on it but the aged old dragon that I am most of them are on vinyl (do we still remember vinyl). The kids say that when we pop our clogs my vinyl collection alone will keep them in the lifestyle theyre not accustomed to just now. I was a bit of a music freak in the 80's, singles albums and the 12 inchers (ooeeeerr sounds a bit rude!!!). lol

Hehehe.
80's fashion is back!
Horror of horrors I saw rah rah skirts in Dorothy Perkins, they were horrid, block layers of red, yellow, blue etc, absolutely ghastly.
I had a nice red one with white trim when I was little but these new ones are horrific.

I had all the sweatshirt fabric stuff, in grey marl aka Kids From Fame style. And I had the figure to wear it.....*sigh*....all gone now..... RaRa skirts, legwarmers, white dance pumps, matching head bands that were hidden in the big hair....oh blimey....
Still, it's all coming back now, which gives me a chance to be tasteful this time around, and not wear it!:p

My mum worked in C&A's in Argyll Street in Glasgow at the time and I think they had a young trendy section called clock something or other. She got her staff discount and when items were getting reduced she would get them for me. Pretty much most of the usual ra ra's, leg warmers, the keep fit stuff but my very very favouritist things were my Frankie t-shirts. I had the cropped one with Frankie says F**K Off (just like that the middle letters blanked out). I used to wear that with my favouritist jeans. Skin tight cropped bleached denims with my little pumps and the glittery Alice band in the hair - them were the days.
Like you Jules I see all the old styles in the shops and thank god I am too old to wear them now!!!

Frankie says F**K OFF!! I dont recall him saying that!!
*0's fashion was in a few years back but didnt really take off.I reckon the fashion houses have got a load of stock left and are trying to convince us its trendy again.

Apart from a few slip-ups during the 80's when I tried pink, I've always worn black. My Grandma used to say I looked like I was going to a funeral!! Colour does not suit me at all, I keep trying, guess I'm a closet goth :p

When you spend your life in leather and denim you tend to come back into fashion every few years! The only sacrifice I've made with age is no more cuban heeled boots - I haven't got the knees for 'em anymore! :)

I wear black mainly because I'm a very reclusive shy person with a tendency towards manic depression, jeez don't I sound like fun!!
At least I've stopped dying my hair black, thinking of purple at the moment. My birth certificate is a fake, I am not 45, I am 19!!
Anyways, black hides the lumpy bits :D

Im shy, I just walk with my head down and a scowl on my face if I ever look up.
I beg you to try colour.
In the old house i used to live in(i was less that 5 years old) I can recall an old lady that lived over the road, she had a fantastic apple orchard and I just have an image of her in a long black dress and I swear to God it was an old bustley Victorian dress!!Soooo coool!!
I think leather and denim are fashion classics, dont think they will ever go out of fashion Pete.

Leather and denim will never fade - if it does I am stuffed cause I am never out of my denims unless I have to be all sponsible at my work, even then I don't wear skits (I am still a tomboy at heart) it is trouser suits (and no no big 80's shoulder pads).

.....What Every Woman Wants in Glasgow, down Argyll St, past the Central Station railway bridge....omg. I loved that place! I dread to think what I must have looked like....heeheehee:p Shoulder pads so huge, you had to go through doors sideyways....
All the plastic jewellery is in Claire's now, like they used to sell in Razzle Dazzle....blast from the past there!
This thread is really cheering me up today. I'm not sure this day could get any worse than it already is. Totally sh*t (scuse french) day

OMG "what every woman wants" forgot all about that shop. Remember I got a lovely black satin shirt (with shoulder pads like geoff capes biceps). Washed it the first time and all the black die coloured all the clothes in the machine!!!
I know this thread is a real trip down memory lane and if my poor sick daughter doesn't stop shouting on me to come and help her I will scream. What a day!!

After reading all your posts, it's sounds like you all enjoyed the eighties. I must admit that i only remeber it vaguely, there was a few punks in my town (well i think that was the eighties). Mind you i was only going up to high school 1990 so i had to wear what my mum put me in, perhaps thats why i choose not to remember.
Going back to the music thing I like most music but at the moment I'm listening to the likes of Damien Rice, Regina Spector, Nelly Furtado, Al Green and Jose Gonzalez. But if i need motivating to do cleaning etc i can recommend the Rocky Balboa album, by the end of it you'll be running up and down the stairs and punching your fist in the air, hehe. I haven't done that.....honest.....!!!!

Oooooh the 80's, I loved it....plastic beads and bangles, puffball skirts, and music that mean't something, not like the noise they call music now...damn, I sound like my mother !! My girls get really annoyed with me when they tell me what clothes they want and I smirk and tell them that actually its not 'new out' its been done before and I did it to the max...I'm surprised I've got any hair left after the amount of backcombing I used to do !!! I do threaten them that I'll turn up at their parents evenings in all my old get up just to see them flinch !!Anyway back to the question, I'm a number one fan of the Dixie Chicks, they are not for everyone, very...country folk as it happens !! But I could happily listen to them day in , day out... :mf:

1980 - not a good year - I stopped smoking in January (For good). I became a widow with three kids and I had my 40th birthday.(I don't know which was worst).
I thought I had forgotten all that until you lot started a trip down memory lane.
It all got better eventually - it always does.
Back to the beginning of the thread - After looking after two kids and an aged aunt I hibernate in my workroom down the garden and listen to Kathleen Jenkins - old bore arnt I.
