Waterfall cards?

My mother in law has recently purchased a pack to make these cards but they have no instructions: To quote her directly:

"Have you heard of 'waterfall' cards? I sent for a kit because I thought it sounded like a new idea and I thought I'd try it, but the kit has come with no instructions. I have fetched the card out and there seems to be a strip which you have to insert in the main card and then it goes in concertina folds I think. Then I'm not quite sure what it should look like in the end, so I'm lost."

I've not come across them - can anyone enlighten us?
