Has anyone ever made those necklaces which are long either leather thong or suede with beads at various intervals they are open ended so that you can either wrap it around your neck several times leaving the ends loose or you knot it in the middle (a bit like you used to do with strings of pearls)
I'm sure they have a name and i just can't think what they are called,
Anyone know?

Yes, they are lariat necklaces. I've made a couple of lariats. I really like them as they are so versatile.

Hmmm, are you sure its a lariat.Dont they have a loopy thing at one end and then the other end threads through and hangs down.

I think icecreamgirl may be refereing to the continuos necklace, literally like a scarf that you wrap round the neck.

Lariat
An open-ended, long strand necklace. Sometimes looped into a knot or used with a slide so that the two ends hang free.

I think Lariat is a pretty general term for an open ended necklace.

Fair enough.
I just thought the 'powers that be' would have made up a name for the ones without a loop.

They are realy good. you can also make them with magnetic beads and that can be used as a fastner. JML do a magnetic version.
