Hi All

I have now put pics on my profile of all my beads that I have made so far... Please can you let me know what you think? They look like they are different sizes from one another in the pics but it is just cos some of them were closer to the camera than others!

Thanks

A x

Its all looking great so far! Keep up the good work.

Your shaping is nice, the holes seem nice and neat and the varnishing nice and even too.

The only constructive comment I would probably make is to keep an eye on the contrast between your colours (AKA how light and dark colours are compared to each other)

With polymer clay work, so often we end up with designs that become smaller and smaller or more and more marbled together in our beads. And at those times, colours that constrast against each other well always tend to fair better than colours that are too similar.

So sets like your Winter set, where there is a lot of constrast between the colours really catch the eye quicker, I think, than some of the others where the colours are a little bit more similar.

Squinting is a good way to check the contrast of colours - or just imagine how they would look on a black and white TV, where contrast is all you have to gone on!

Liking those a lot. I especially like the blue tone ones, but that may be because as Emma says you can see the contrast more.

Thanks for that guys- I will bear the contrasting comments in mind... I have enjoyed making them and I am going to carry on. I enjoy it more than making my actual jewellery I think! The shaping is hard though... It seems to take ages and is never perfect!

Have you tried using a bead roller. If you can get to grips with it, it makes the beads all uniform shape and size

I was thinking of getting one actually- do you think it is worth it?

I haven't made many polymer clay beads but the few times I have used it has been fine. My hubby likes making my beads for me and he swears by it.

Go to the photo album in microburts profile, they are all there.

As for the beads I really do like the winter set you have made. Not so sure about the brown ones - looking a bit muddy, probably is something to do with the contrast like some one else said earlier. I have never made beads so am no expert in these matters. You could always sell the beads to other jewellery people to then use, if you are preferring bead making to jewellery making.

I really like the blue and white ones, and the torqouise ones look just like torqouise(!) to me, which I love...if you're happy to make them is there any reason why you can't continue to just do that? Could you sell them primarily and then make the occasional item to show them off, another idea would be to put together the items the person would need to make their own for example, simple kits maybe? :)
