For those who print greetings and backgrounds for scrapbooking or cards, what kind of paper & printer do you use?

I've got a good inkjet here, and a lot of funky 12" x 12" but I'm not sure whether (once cut down to size) those would be suitable in the inkjet printer.

Before messing it all up, I thought I'd ask if anyone has recommendations.

Also where do you get your greetings, backgrounds, etc from? I've seen those discs you can buy, but are there also freebies so I can experiment first?

Cheers!

I don't really print out background papers anymore but when i did i used to use good quality mat photo paper (not the shiny stuff!) I found the results weren't good enough on own brand white card such as WHSmiths.

I have an ink jet printer too and regularly cut down 12 x 12 card if i want to print on it...doesn't do anything any harm at all, as long as your 12 x 12 isn't too thick/thin and just regular thickness you should be fine!

If you have Microsoft Word or any graphics program (I have paint shop pro) then you should be able to design and print your own greetings easily enough! If you don't then google for GIMP which is the free equivilent to Photoshop.

In regards to free stuff there are loads of free backgrounds/elements etc to play with, just google for free digital scrapbooking kits/papers! Just make sure that before you print that the paper you download set at 300DPI and not 72DPI (most are!)

Hope this helps!
