Hi all!

I've just been given a lovely big bag of fabrics which I'd like to upcycling into purses.

I'm particularly interested in using the metal clasp fastener things but I'll start with the basics - can anyone tell me where to get the best patterns from?

I can sew but I dont know all the technical jargon of sewing yet so I'd need pretty simple instructions although my mum will translate for me if necessary as she's a dress maker.

thanks!!

Best to google free bag patterns....I can't remember the websites names, but there were loads of patterns etc.

Good luck!

ps: u-handbags.com are a good source, or I brought a load of magnetic fasteners from ebay.

Hi, I just made this bag and it was my first sewing project too and it was fairly easy and straight forward to follow the pattern. I'll be posting pictures of it soon but here's the tutorial .... http://artsycraftybabe.typepad.com/tutorials/phoebe_bag.pdf

I got it off www.freeneedle.com (http://www.freeneedle.com) and there's loads of free patterns on there.
