    Nikon Coolpix P90

Hi everyone. I got a Nikon P90 for Xmas and I find that the image is really grainy. Does anyone else have one of these cameras? What do you think of it? Im in a bit of a dilema as the camera cost quite alot but my OH chose it for me when we had agreed that he would just give me money to buy a camera. I know he was just being nice but unfortunatly, its not the camera I would have picked.

    I sound really ungrateful dont I !?

Had a quick google to find out about this camera (I'm an Olympus and Canon girl) and I have to say the reviews weren't complimentary, and many of them said the picture quality was dreadful!

It may be better to come clean with the OH, say you're disappointed with the results and that you've discovered many other people have had the same results and see if you can return it - whilst you may not be able to get your money back you might be able to exchange for a camera you do want...?

I bought the same camera and had the same problem. I took took it back to Jessops and ended up getting a Panasonic Lumix instead (from another shop) and have noticed such a difference and am very happy that I changed it.
Does you OH have the receipt - would he mind if you changed it, if you explained it didn't work well for photographing you crafts?

Do you use the Macro setting on the lumix much? Id like to know how you think that performs as Id be using that a lot to photograph my jewellery.

well, iv now looked through all the cameras (my head is about to explode) and the reviews and I have decided on a panasonic Lumix TZ7 (in Red! How girly! hehe). Its coming in at exactly the same price as the Nikon so I should just be a straight swap.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I'll keep you posted on how the Panasonic performs......

I use a Panasonic Lumix too and have no complaints at all. My previous one was a Nikon!

                      Snow,

I used a Canon IXUS 9515 for my photos plus a light tent (thanks to the suggestions I got in this forum). It cost c.£120 something from Jesspos. The macro setting is really good...the Teak Leaf Details photo was taken with the macro setting. Not able to posts links yet but have a look at the Teak Leaf Candles page on waxwonderful.com.

                      Good luck with your photos!

I always check out reviews before buying cameras. I'm hoping there will be a Nikon p7000 soon (replacing the p6000).
