My ongoing saga re tax forms continues.
I was having a google last week and saw something called a short tax return which is a 4 page document instead of the scary 8 page form ive been looking at.Its given to people whose business would make less than something like £15,000. a year.
Does anybody know what Im talking about?Do any of you have this form?

It's the green section in the main boocklet. It's the bit I was talking about last week.

Sorry think I got me colours mixed. just red help book . you need section on self employment starts. page SEN1 box 3.24 and 3.25 are relavant to turnover under £15.000.
You seem to be getting your self in an un-nesacery tiss. This isn't due till the end of the year. ;)
Did you find a free course near you?

Hello, tahnsk for the info.
Ihave just been sneaky.
I was asked to look for a colleagues old address and I found a file on me.
No one was here so I had a look in it.Usual dull stuff like contract and receipts but also found an IR form that had a section 'starting your own busines?' then it said yuo need form CWL1.
So I shall have a look for this one and the others you suggested goldy1.
Thanks

Just realised thats the registration form which Ive already seen and in comparison seems easy to fill in.
I have decided to stop worrying. When I register I assume the IR will send me the relevant tax form(will they?).
If they do send it to us can you tell me how far in advance they send it?Id need a few weeks to work it out.

I think the Tax Forms are usually sent out in April. They have to be in by the end of September if you want them to calculate your tax for you, or the end of January if you do it yourself. That's a simplified explanation.
The hmrc gov website is very helpful. Do a Google search for self assesment and you should find some usefiul links.
Don't worry too much about it, as long as you can add up your incomings and your outgoings you should be ok :) If you send back your Tax Return over the Internet all the Software and Online forms will calculate your tax liability for you.
I really should post here more so that I can post direct links, which would be far more useful to you. :)

Thanks,I get in a tizzy about what goes where so if I had a form to look at I could relate the answers to the questions. So worried Im going to not work something out sorrectly and they are going to throw me in prison!!
I like the idea of sitting at a table with the form and a calculator working it all out.Thats a big reason why Im doing this, I need a challenge, something for my brain to think about.
