Hehe, what a coincidence, everytime Ive thrown a chocolatewrapper away recently Ive though to myself surely theres something I can make with these.
All I can think of is a nice stained glass effect, maybe make a panel to hang infront of the window so the light shines through.

You sound a bit like me. I hate to throw away things I may be able to use!!

They might work well in some kind of collage or decoupage design. Patchwork-effect collage? Stained glass window designs? Small cut-outs on gift labels? Mix them with other interesting papers or buttons, beads, etc?

Maybe incorporate the cellophane ones into fabric crafts?

I'm sure there are lots of other ideas out there! Try googling it.

I love quality street they are just so beautiful to look at. Far better then the roses, heroes and celebrations.
The outer wrappers are also my delight!
I have a nice pile. Havn't yet done anything with them. I did once see a chair decorated with them. It was fab!

Hi, I use sweet wrappers to cover beads; just crumple up, glue on, and varnish over the top. :D

Last year I saw a clutch bag someone had made out of folded sweet wrappers, it was fabulous, wish I knew how it was done.

I make peppermint creams and then wrap them in the wrappers and give them as christmas presents!

you can compost the plastic bit, recycle the foil, I read it on the tin.
Not throwing mine away though, cool for collaging, maybe use them to cover your diary?

Despite saving everything that looks as though I could use it for card-making, embarrassed to admit that re-using QS wrappers never occurred tome. Lots of lovely ideas here.

I am thinking I could use them for Iris folding (which I have never done), or any other sort of decoupage - imagination running riot with the colour scheming.

I saved ours too
I was going to use them to make stained glass christmas decorations with the children when I was creche duty at church - only problem was by time I worked that out my turn on the rota had passed.
I'm making calendars tomorrow with the children but not with the wrappers.
Might use them for some sort of easter craft instead, but no idea what!

Have you been secretly training my teenage daughter?

She's done this for years with all sorts of stuff. You've no idea how disappointing it is to go to the cupboard and the choccies you've had your eye on have been emptied out...

Try something like this http://www.tamsinhowells.com/category.php?c_id=2 I have a brooch from this lady and its really lovely, its all recycled sweety wrappers sandwiched between perspex with resin. I keep meaning to try to make something like this (not birds though!) but havent got around to it. She sells these brooches for about £40 each!! I got mine from her a crafts fair for £15.

Decoupage is always the simplest.

Paper beads to string into hanging mobiles, charms, or inside glassware for a colourful effect.

Mosaic tiles takes a little more time, but can work quite well.

For the plastic wrappers you could shred them and then use them as a bed for jewellery or anything that gets put into a small box but needs protecting.

Would be nice and colourful instead of the shedded paper you usual get in jewellery boxes.

I was going to say that! they used to sell them in Debenhams but recently I've seen them in a shop in Oxford street, the Tottenham court road end, about two shops down from Game if you were in the area lol.

I had a look at them once and it looked like they were woven into one another, there was no lining and you could actually see between the wrappers. I've also seen a bag made out of flat capri sun cartons!

As for the quality street, how about wrapping them around a small round object to give them back their 'sweet' shape and maybe running a cord through them to turn them into a sweetie bracelet or something?

Not sure that makes sense but I have a pretty image in my head!

I was going to say about the chair, like beadsbydesign, it was so pretty. The iris folding sounds a good idea :)

I have a stack of these sweet wrappers and I'm at a loss for something to do with them - We might make some sort of stained glass Christmas Card... Any better ideas would be appreciated though....

I have a fantastic necklace which is made from the coloured silver foil, covered in resin and children love it! As it is multicoloured it goes with everything.

My wife used them to make coloured stain glass windows in the art course she was doing. They looked really good.

donate them to someone who needs them - eg. StefC whos posted 'plastic upcycling' today. x

(which makes me think, is there such a thing going on here for donating unwanted crafty bits? like a swap type thing....I'm sure there used to be years ago. Mayb I'll make my way over to the 'suggestions' thread right now).

Hi there, it's an old-ish thread...I think the OP was trying to find different things to make with them, not trying top get rid of them.

A swap shop simply is not going to happen - too many things can go wrong/get ugly...and then it would all surface on the CF, and the mods would have to mediate - it just won't happen.

I see you joined back in 2007...well, welcome back....

Quality Streets are my favourite. Our lodger laminated a quality Street wrapper and then cut around it. It looks great. If you hole punched the corner it could go on a key chain. My husband and I were thinking about how you could layer it with different coloured wrappers before laminating it to make coasters. I also though they would make great backgrounds on cards or even use a wrapper and pad it out to make it look like a sweet for a card for someone.

Hope these suggestions help.

Wow, there are a lot of great creative ideas here. I've alsways thought they are so pretty and must be able to be used for something else too.
