Im new to crafting and dont really have a clue but i want to try!!!!!!!
I would like to make an exploding memory box for my mum as grandad passed away in the summer but its only really just hit her now.
I have found a tutorial online with instructions to make one.
It says i need card stock??? whats this? Is it normal card?
Also how do u stick on paper and photos etc? Is prittstick ok?

Stock is just another word for 'lots of' :D like stash, pile of - what you want your exploding box to be made of. Mind you, some card is thinner and flimsier than others, so when you buy card try and aim for stuff over 200 gsm (grams per square metre), that's the weight of the card. I don't use pritt stick myself, I tend to get myself in a bit of a mess with it tbh, so I use either double sided tape or one of those finger tape guns with the roll of tape inside. If you go to somewhere like the createandcraft web site you'll probably find everything you need to make your exploding box. If the photos are one-offs or precious you could copy them onto paper/card instead :) Good luck with your pressie =)

Thanks so much....... i feel so thick starting this as i know nothing!!
So I need a thickish card and double sided tape! Thanks. Sounds easy but no doubt I end get in a pickle!
I have all the photos ready to have copied, just need to drag my butt into town to do that and I have also found a site with vintage paper on to print so I think i will use some of that too.
Popped into Laura Ashley a few days ago and they had a few card making bits I guess I could use too Like ribbon that is sticky on one side and printed card and it was all in the sale so I could use some of that aswell.

Thanks guys.
Where do you get your stamps from for the tags??? I soooooo need a set!
I went and got my card today - keeping it simple in a light cream colour - got some ribbon too and some butterfly buttons to go inside as well as a large butterfly for the centre section.

I have a woodware punch for the tags you can get them here (http://www.woodware.co.uk/index.asp) or i have a big shot machine that cuts the same, but as you are just starting out I would try the punches first, If not have a go at makining your own, cut out a rectangle the snip two of the corners then hole punch....voila your tag is created.
Let us know how you get on and why not post a picture on here

I have to admit that once you get the bug for exploding boxes the world is your oyster.. I have a variety of punches and dies (Sizzix/cuttlebug/big shot) and also have a cricut which does some amazing things all of which are trial and error for size but after a while you get used to what will fit where. I have a woodware punch for the decal edge tags which i have to admit i love.. its actually my favourite punch and very smooth in its cutting.
I have stamps now too which fit exactly the size of the triangular box but as I say over time you will get used to what will fit where.
The base (inside the box) is always fun to find something to fit in it. I love Fimo so generally use a figure for that but butterflies are good too as they are much lighter. Fimo has a habit of being rather heavy depending on what you do with it.
Good luck.. and let us see a pic of your wonderful creation xxx
