First off, I am a complete beginner at enameling, I hope to use a small blowtorch at first and maybe progress to a kiln later.

I will only make stuff for pleasure so I don't want to spend a fortune!

I need a bit of help regarding where to buy supplies of glass powder, copper wire, in fact everything.

I will get a book from the library but any advice will obviously be welcome.

I hope to make small pendants, earrings, rings etc., my metal working skills are OK and I have a good range of tools but might need a couple of pairs of snips for copper.

Loads of questions but that will do for now.

Hi,

We get our enamelling supplies online from W.G Ball or The Enamel Shop.

Hope this helps

Thanks Decima, I was beginning to think I would never get a reply!

I have found W.G. Ball but I will have a look at the Enamel Shop.

I have ordered a selection of powders from an Ebay supplier, they are a bit cheaper and I will see how they go.

I get my copper wire from wires.co.uk - they are excellent and a friendly bunch of guys, so if you have any questions, just ask them!

Good luck.

Thanks Jules I just had a look at the Wires.co. website and they have plenty of wire!

Unfortunately they don't do rectangular section (about 1mm x .5mm) but I can probably beat some out of round section or trim some strips off copper plate.

Well ebay for a kiln. You might also try investment molds, casting, gold, for words in your yahoo search. I would like to know where to get the enameling powders.
