I'm doing some foody Christmas presents and would like to put gold leaf on some biscuits that I going to be making. Where is the best place to get this - supermarkets don't seem to sell it. Also, I was wondering if there are any other edible 'metals' such as sliver leaf maybe.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

On Kirsty's homemade home (view via channel 4 on demand) episode 3 she guilds pears with it. It's £40.00 a book!!! you may be able to find a stioockist through the chanel 4 site.

Have you tried using 'petal dust glitters' or food colourings that you can buy from cake decorating shops/suppliers?

Would be a lot cheaper than gold leaf but obviously not nearly as indulgent.

Found a link for the real thing: http://www.squires-shop.com/ibf/index.php?p=catalog&parent=153&pg=1
