I was wondering if anyone knows of a good stained glass online supplier. What I am looking for is good quality coloured/textured glass at a reasonable price. Any ideas appreciated.

Mosaic Trader UK who are based in Canterbury sell stained glass too.

I have to say that I have found that buying glass online works out expensive, the glass itself may be reasonable but the postage charges work out very expensive. You may be better trying to find a supplier locally who you can collect from.

I've also found that buying glass online is a bit of a lottery as you are unable to pick your glass and therefore run the risk of a whispy glass being more stripy than whispy or not having much whispy bits in it, or there may be flaws in the glass which, when you try to cut the glass, cause it to shatter or break everywhere but where you want it to break.

I use tempsford glass, cheaper than creative guild and good service, also if you become a member you can get offers.

Thanks for your responses. I've recently been using creative glass gild. The prices seem quite good, especially if brought as a mixed selection pack or offcuts.

I use a few places:

Reading Stained Glass in Berkshire is my favourite. The shop is not too far away from me, it's like an aladins cave. Jon who runs the shop is really helpful - and I've learned a lot by just going in there!! Sometimes when I can't get in, he posts the glass out for me - also like Moonbeam says, it is nice to be able to choose your pieces of glass - I've had a few horrible streaky bits too - where they are mainly clear...

The creativeglassshop is great for mail order (not to be confused with the creative glass guild, these are different who are also good!). The creative glass shop seem very helpful whenever I've had to phone up.

I also use warm glass.

Columbia SC is very near Sumter (like 20-30 minutes away), and there are lots of craft supply places there, possibly even one specifically for glass craft supplies...
