I've tried doing my own leaf skeletons and used various methods. I have boiled them in washing soda and then tried rubbing off the flesh, I have washing them in soda then soaked them in bleach, it doesn't seem to ever work. Sometimes they look quite good floating in the bleach, then when I get them out they become a gloopy mess.

Has anyone had any success doing their own leaf skeletons?

I haven't but I look forward to the answers as it is something I have been thinking of using in some way

You need to first dry the leaves in a flower press (or old telephone directory with heavy books on top) for at least a couple of weeks, longer if possible, until they are absolutely bone dry and quite rigid.

Then put them in a washing soda solution and when they start to go soggy lift them out and brush gently with a toothbrush.
