Thought I would try making reindeer food for a craft market in December. I have never done it before and was wondering if anyone could offer advice on how to package it?
The recipe I have is for oatmeal and glitter is the glitter at all harmful to animals who may eat it? Do I need a special content label?
Thanks in anticipation:p

Use oatmeal with sprinkles (hundreds and thousands, that kind of thing) or edible sugar glitter, but thats a bit more expensive!
As for packaging, a cello bag with a topper works great, full product visibility and plenty of room for decoration!

Yep don't use normal glitter, if you look along the cake decoration section of the supermarket you'll find a few sparkly things you could use instead.
When I made it a few years ago I put them in small grip seal bags and made a header card with the poem and a wooden reindeer head on it :)

I have been doing some of my own too. It goes down a treat, I charge £1.50 and mine are in cello bags with toppers like snowangel but different papers and different reindeers :-) I have the poem and reindeer at the front and disclaimer not to eat etc on the back. I do not use glitter but edible stuff with oats and some bird food so that the birds are happy too!

I use coloured sugar strands and silver dragees, all of which are edible and not harmful to animals (or kids).
I would never use ordinary glitter.

Thanks for the info I will have a look in the supermarket for edible coloured bits to use instead of glitter.
Not sure what sized bags to get though!

I managed to get some cellophane-fronted bags on eBay for a very reasonable price.
