Hi does anywhere know where is the best place to go for a sewing machine? I dont have a massive amount to spend and don't want anything too technological as I'm only a beginner and haven't used one since home ec at school! I just really want to get into making curtains etc and things for around my house as I have so many bits of fabric etc and material that I haven't used for anything.

Does anyone have any advice or tips? I've had a look at some models but half the functions baffle me so I'm not quite sure what I'd need for the sort of thing I'd want to do and what I could live without.

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Gem x

You could try John Lewis, when I last looked they had some for around £100, one for about £80, then it kind of jumps into the 100's.ts a good place for a basic machine plus Im sure they come with 2 years guarantee so if it goes wrong they will fix it.
Plus if you go to the shop they will allow you to try the machine.

Thanks! £80 sounds within my budget. My friend recently saw one for £60 but she can't remember where it was irritatingly. I might trot along to JL and see if I can have a go on any :)
