No your are not an idiot - I don't know the answers so I pay an accountant, who saves me more than she costs me;)

The questions are spot on...

These are what you need to ask on the phone when you can explain the entire situation to them.

Basically any income you have had needs to go on the form. It split up into the above sections.

All interest from bank accounts etc... The problem is finding out which you have paid tax on and which you need to pay tax on. Best to talk on the phone or pop in to a local tax office if you can. Once you have done it once its pretty simple.

Hope that helps a little

My dad always points out that an ISA is TAX FREE so make sure they dont take anything away from/or because of your ISA.

I always do my own tax returns but, I use the information given to me by an accountant I spoke to of what I can claim for etc
For your first tax return I highly recommend speaking to the people at the tax office either over the phone or in person - have all your information ready and they wll basically walk you through filling it in there and then - so after the phonecall it will all be done and dusted. I did that for my first one as it frigthend me terribly, after the phone call I was euphoric and ready to marry the person on the phone who helped me.

(Fortunatly she didn't feel the same lol).
