I want to stick a feather into a bead, but then attatch that bead to other beads, but I dont know how to do that if it has a feather 'stalk' in the way.

Any ideas?

Are they fairly thick beads? Could you glue the beads together to make a kind of tube and stick the feather in that or is that not what you are looking to do?

They are 12mm swarovski beads.
Just thought I could try glueing the feather stalk AND an eyepin in the bead. But a bit worried about the metal reacting with the glue.
Is strong(araldite)glue acceptable in jewellery making?

12mm Swarovski? You could stick a turkey feather in one of them! All glue is 'acceptable' as long as it's clear. I use Devcon 5 min epoxy and GS Hypo cement, the epoxy is a problem if you want to get the glue into a bead hole though. Either of the above I think you will get from Kernowcraft.
Have fun! :)

edit: just had a look at Jillybeads - they have both.

Thanks Pete, have to admit thats not a section of Jillybeads I look in.
Ive convinced myself to spend a fortune on beads so il add the glue to my list.

I just experimented, I managed to get a headpin and enough of a fether end in the bead hole so looks like my dilemma may be over.
Just need a feather site to get back to me re the prices of the feathers they sell.ANd some glue of course

Oh your funny Mr Peter.
Id love a KFC right now as Im sooo hungry.
Doubt my goods will sell if they look good but smell of dead bird, then again it may become a new fashion.

I just bought all the goodies for the thing Im making with the feathers, and a bit more which mounted to about £60(starts to hyperventialte at the amount of money spent)But I have also booked my photography pal to take pics of what I make so Im heading forward in my plan for world craft domination.

Still not heard from the feather site, I will either contact KFC or maybe wait till the weekend and buy suitable feathers I saw in hobbycarft once, I just hope my recollection of seeing them in black is real and not a figment of my sometimes overactive imagination.

You could try wire-wrapping the feather stalk to bulk it out to the right size for the bead hole and then setting it in place with glue.

Just a thought!

Thats a good idea but the mix of the stalk and the bits of feather round it pads it out enough.
I have the glued bead here and Im gona make it into a necklace today.

Oh, forgot to say I put a head pin in with the feather too so I could thread on other beads and have a loop at the top.

Out of curiosity, where did you order the feathers from? I tie my own fishing flies so always on the look out for new sources - being in Cardiff there just aren't as many pheasants knocked down by the side of the road as i'm used to!

I go them from Hobby craft, thay are about 10cm long.
You can get them in many colours so the fishes will like them!
