Hi Jacqui, welcome to the addictive world of scrapbooking :)

Do you have any cardmaking/scrapbooking shops near to you?
The Range and Hobbycraft sell scrapbook stuff, and some branches of Dunelm Mill are now stocking a small range too.

If you are concerned about the long term safety of your photos, then look for acid and lignin free paper and cardstock items, and acid free adhesives and non-paper embellishments.

There are a few magazines you might like to look out for, I buy mine in WHSmith. I especially like Scrapbook Trends, which is in essence a US mag although published over here. The 2 British mags are Scrapbook Inspirations and the Scapbook Magazine.
Some scrapbook stores sell the US mag Creating Keepsakes. All of them will have lots to inspire you.

Good luck with your album :)

It can be daunting when starting, thinking you know nothing, but just start slowly and keep it simple. As you gain more experience, the confidence comes and then, the addiction!

I find it great fun. I started a year ago. Very addictive.
