Hi All,

I know this is a big ask but I was just wondering if any photographers would like to give me some photos. Basically I am looking to make some stock lamps, thinking along the lines of flowers etc but all the royalty free images I find have to be accredited to the photographer or website and there is no way I can think to do this on my lamps!

Anyway, just thought I'd ask on the off chance that anyone has any great photos they don't really need/use that I could use!

These are two images I have used previously and I hope give an idea of the style I like - but am open to suggestions/ ideas!

Please let me know if you do :)

Thanks so much,

Emma.

I dont think any credit has to be a solid fixture to a piece of work.I think you can just add it to any paperwork to send with the sale or have a removable label. As long as its on their somewhere, somehow.

Hi Do you need a certain pixal count, resolution for your images?

have you tried buying images from one of many stock libraries out there.

Try shutterstock or alamy, they are two who will happily sell images to you. If your making lamps to sell as a business its only fair the photographer should be paid, otherwise we are working for free while you make money off our images.

If you look at some stock libraries you can legally use images without a tag line on by just paying a few american dollars. i.e. istockphoto will sell you a pictures for under 3 quid. At that price you can make a living and the photographer has his share.

Hello, Thanks for the info, but for example from iStock photo you can't use the images without a special license if you are going to be selling the product.

I just wanted to see if anyone had any photos they didn't want/need anymore, not trying to take advantage, sorry to offend and thanks for the info.

Hi Emma

You could try Fotolia (http://en.fotolia.com/) - you can choose an "extended license" (where available - not everyone offers it) which allows you to use on a product for sale. More detailed license explanations are at http://en.fotolia.com/Info/RoyaltyFreePhotos.

As long as you give credit somewhere (could be a sticker on the bottom of the lamp, for example), it's fine - you can email them to check you're meeting the agreement, if in doubt. Extended license image prices range from about £7.50 up to £100+ so if you're aiming to sell the same lamp design unlimited times, you should easily make your money back!

Hope that helps!

Your lamps are really beautiful!

I'll have a look through my own photos and my husbands as well (He has a lot of plant photos) and see if there is anything that might suit you.

Hi Do you need a certain pixal count, resolution for your images?

Hi Annoble,

Well I just used some photos from an ordinary 8 megal pixels camera to make a lamp for someone and it looks great. Obviously, the better the photos the better the end product though and the ones I used for the butterfly and flower were higher res and have turned out a bit better!

I mainly photograph children, so not really suitable for this type of thing. The only ones I have that might be suitable are these:-
