i'm a dabbler, mainly a lampworker but every so often i get the urge to fuse, normally pendents or coasters as i only have a small kiln

I'd love an even bigger kiln! At the mo I use one with a 16" internal space

I am a dabbler

I keep meaning to try more fusing - its one of the reasons I went for the Caldera kiln after all. Just never seem to get around to it!

one thing i really hate about it - having to clean every piece of glass before you fuse. grr @ devit! *sulk*

The trouble I have had so far with my feeble fusing attempts ( few little dichro cabs - nothing fancy) is stopping the glass from moving about when I get it into the kiln.

I tried using dabs of PVA but obviously my dabs were more on the dollop side, since they didn't burn away properly

So next time I need to try a much more subtle approach I think

steph, i know what you mean about cleaning the glass, sheet glass is harder to clean without cutting yourself than lampworking rod's, but i hate cleaning the rods too

Emma, i put my glue in a little dish and use one of them glue spreaders like the ones i used to use at primary school, i pinched it off my little sister but it helps with putting just enough glue on

I must be perverse - I really like cleaning glass rods.

I have a little pump action glass bottle I keep filled with meths and a roll of Jay cloths and I am happy as a pin in...

i just love fusing,:D went to a course in brighton last year and it took me a year to find my perfect kiln, which is the hot box 8 from skutt.:p
Prior to this i made costume jewellery but when i seen dichroic glass i fell in love with the whole glass fusing malarky!
My teacher at Brighton said i had supplied him with the best quote as i told himi was sickenly enthusiastic.....

Hello... I fuse glass. I make dichroic glass jewellery pieces and glass bowls which I fuse in my kiln. Absolutely love it... spend most of my days in my workshop :)
