...for hand sewing? I know there are different types but have no idea which one is the easiest to sew by hand.

For little ornaments, or applique? I always use 100% wool felt...can you find some handmade felt?

It's dead easy to make ;) But messy.

With which felt - depends what it's for. I've almost only ever seen the small thin coloured squares in the shops. I go delirious with delight if I spot the thick heavy stuff. (Makes brilliant hats.)

I really like those little felt plushies I've seen on etsy, and I'd like to make some to my own design if possible. Not sure if I've got this right, but can you make felt out of old woolen jumpers (or have I been dreaming again?) :p If so, how...?

Yes, you can make felt out of old woollen jumpers (acrylic doesn't work, must be wool).

I've never done it, but washing in a machine on probably 60 degrees should work (someone may come along and correct me). Once it is felted, it should be ok to cut and sew with, as all the fibres are matted together so won't fray or run easily.

It will make a much nicer felt than those thin little squares you can buy.

(Annie, I so understand your delirium. My name is Wendy and I am a fabricaholic.)
