Got out my craft box to make some cards today - for the first time in ages - and Anya has been playing with all the bits! I don't mind too much because she is very careful with them and even tidies away after herself. Anyway, as her birthday is coming up, I had the bright idea of getting her her own craft box. I could make up my own but I haven't really got the time so does anyone know where I can get a decent craft box suitable for a three year old? Preferably card making stuff/paper craft as that is what I do. Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved!

Hi Swirly

I've made a few craft kits up for some of my friend's little girls bithdays (4 & 6) as they love playing with my craft stuff when they visit. It was really easy to do you should give it a go.

I bought the kids craft pack from pda (loads of coloured paper, shapes, card blanks, punch etc), added some wooden shapes, flowers, ribbon, peel offs, glitter glue etc from my own stock and then nipped into Wilkinsons to get some of their cheap stuff and a box to put it all in and finished it off with their name in peel offs on the box - really enjoyed making them actually and didn't cost much at all and best of all they both loved it.

love Netty

PS. Don't think their mum was too impressed with the glitter glue.....all over their house

Thanks - I've had a look and found a few craft boxes but the stuff in them was a bit naff so I think I will make one for her because I know I can get decent stuff for cheaper than the made up ones. It might have to wait til Christmas though!

Looking at whats on the market at the moment I think you would be better making your own up, at least then you get what you want in it and no rubbish, The most important part of a craft box is glue and paper shapes as small children just love to stick, I also find old wraping paper and cards are also a cheap way to go. Hope this has been of some help.

Just to update you - I did buy a ready made craft box as it is exactly the same as mine in looks and it was only 3.99. I also took your advice though and bought lots of extra stuff to go in it as the stuff already in it was a bit rubbish. It's her birthday tomorrow and I can't wait to see her little face (hopefully) light up so she can be just like mummy!!

I am sure she will love it, all my minded children have there own craft boxes and we get them out every day they love making cards, cutting out and sticking things.

She loved it!! The hoola hoop that she had been pestering for lay unused and actually unnoticed all morning. She has made lots of thank you cards this afternoon (using up all the glue in the process!) and even had to take it out with her this morning when we went to the bank - bless!
