Just wondering whether any of you have Dawanda shops and if so what is your experience with them.

No I bought some supplies from there but I don't have a shop. I was thinking about but as noone here is recommending them I don't think I'll bother

Thanks alot I will have a look. I'm steering clear of Etsy, I know its really popular but I think my stuff will just get lost on there. I have just opened a shop on Misi and the people over there seem lovely, will check out Craft Juice as you suggested though

I think when my stock grows I will sell on all of them (misi, etsy etc) just for the advertising until I have built up enough of a reputation. I will make some pieces and spread them around.

I am lucky in one sense because I make websites albeit I am new to it, its an advantage. The hardest thing is generating hits to the website. You need to spend time everyday generating an interest.

Karen, have you thought about blogging to generate interest?

It's free, it's not very time-consuming (she says) and apparently blogs get picked up quicker than websites by Google.

Mine is only a few months old but is on page 1 and 2 of Google for quite a few keywords already - some of which are totally irrelevant!!!(eg ikea domsjo sink!) - this has made me realise I need to be a bit more focused on which keywords I want to get picked up for. Although I'm still interspersing blog posts about my work with general interest stuff, which I hope makes for more interesting reading.

I think whatever methods you choose, selling on the internet is a long-term plan, and is not for the impatient (like me, lol).
