This forum is absolutely brilliant. For months we've been waffling around thinking we ought to have a website but not knowing how or where to start. Within less than a week of joining this forum and asking for advice we've got our website up and running and best of all it's FREE!

If anyone else is interested, the create your own website address is www.weebly.com (http://www.weebly.com) Just register yourself on and then play around to your heart's content until you're satisfied. The help desk is very good also.

A BIG THANK YOU to everybody who replied to my original plea for help, and especially to marc who put us on to this one.

I used www.webs.com (http://www.webs.com) to make my free website, then I bought a domain for about a fiver and re-direct it to there; www.momo-bijou.co.uk (http://www.momo-bijou.co.uk) :} although after feedback on here people seemed un-keen on buying off a free web account :S, hold on actually I think I redirect to misi now, hold on.... yeah. my free website account is; www.momo-bijou.webs.com (http://www.momo-bijou.webs.com) ha.

I use weebly too, and like you found it through this forum. I find it very easy to use and have no complaints.

I'm sorry if my question sounds silly but I was wondering if this weebly page help people to create a free website without a need for domain? Or does weebly provide a free domain name?

Weebly will provide you with ............@weebly.com (you choose the first name and there will be a check to see if it's available). It is free.

I've used the free version of weebly for over a year for my Brownies. That way they can have their own website (which is helpful to communicate information to the parents as well as the girls) without it eating in to our precious funds!

I use freewebstore.org
Very good start up place and the option of upgrading and using your own domain name.
Free page is limited number of products but it does provide all the ecommerce backend for you.

Thank you all for the advice in this thread I have signed up to weebly and started creating my site. Not published anything yet as due to the time of night the creative juices are slowing down. I do have to ask though has anyone else reading this thread got the advertising jingle for the children's toy running through their heads 'weebles wobble but they don't fall down' - or is it just me? :)

This is a very old thread.

It is. It keeps popping up out of the woodwork every now and then. But if it's still useful to people that's what it's all about surely. Old age doesn't necessarily mean 'past it' (I speak from experience :-)

WOW, i wish i knew about all these free website options earlier!
I've used joomla, it's free, but you have to pay for your hosting and domain, but it's not an easy option if you haven't got a clue like me lol I must say, I'm happy with the result so far, but it took me ages to figure out everything and I still have a lot to learn..
