Hello to all at the Craft Forum/ Xmas fairs request Scotland

    Hello there,

This is my first post and would like to introduce myself to all members at the Craft Forum.

My name is Suzanne and I've been painting; jewellery and card making for some time. I've had a change in circumstance, moving from a career in academia to following what I enjoy as a result of serious health issues.

I have been fortunate enough to have sold paintings through galleries and word of mouth over the past two years and very much enjoyed the experience of chatting with other artists and crafters.

As this is such a huge change in direction for me and I am a novice regarding where to go for craft/art fairs within Scotland, I hope I might be able to ask other Craft Forum members for advice/info on the best fairs to be involved with and how I may find out dates and how to register for these events.

I would also be keen to hear from other members of your experiences and interested to know what you have made/painted/produced and what may have lead you down this path or if it has been an inherent part of you that has always been expressed.

It would also be great to know if there might be any craft fairs within Scotland, especially the Central Belt that I may be able to take part in before Xmas. All info will be much appreciated.

Thank you for letting me introduce myself and kind regards to you all,

    Suzanne

You can find these craft fairs in the newspaper, talk to friends, look at local community bulletin boards or contact your local council. Newspaper articles will tell you when a craft show is being held. The very best way to find out about craft shows is to subscribe to a craft show publication.

        Hello and

I am new too, just finding my feet here really!

I too got into crafting because of health issues, and it has helped me tremendously to have a creative outlet for my frustration!

          Hello suzy

I did a quick google and I found quite a few pages with craft fayres so i will list them here but i dont know if i can post links so if they dont work just type in "craft fair central scotland" in google

Nope I cant even put in the names with DOT in between them
          OK you have the
          Livingston Craft website
          Lothian Events website
          3d2d website
          Scottish-Craft website

I didn't realise the Scottish-craft website that I am a member of also has a list of events....i really should pay more attention to whats available to me when i join up! But so far I haven't had the time to inquire about attending any craft fayres.
          Hope this helps
