I am very confused over the melting temperature of soy wax. Some sites say between 120-140 and others 160-180. Help?

I don't know if it is Ecosoya you are using but I will post a link to their site. They have a product information sheet which should be of some use.
Ecosoya (http://www.ngiwax.com/specifications)

I do use ecosoya, thanks for the link. I see that some folks use the microwave, sounds a bit dangerous to me.

The link to the NGI site from Lisa should give you a lot of useful info. It certainly helped me a while ago.
As you'll see, the different types of waxes have different melting points and recommended pouring/mixing temperatures. Pillar wax certainly acts differently to container wax and then when you start to mix waxes ......!!!
With regard to the microwave, I have and do sometimes use it but mainly for cleaning up and preheating def not to melt wax in bulk. I'll stick to the pots and double boiler I currently use!!
