Hi all, I am a keen and enthusiastic (occasionally slow) knitter and keep meaning to have a go with dpns although have always been scared away before now, but I'm determined to have a go. Does anyone have an easy/beginners pattern I could try, pref something useful lol (I'm having a baby in september so something for her would be great) Any suggestions would be great, I know there are a lot of free patterns out there but just wondered if anyone could reccommend a pattern that was particularly easy to learn with.

Thanks

I don't know about any baby patterns - I started with socks for myself, now I have orders from the children! King Cole yarns have a promotion at the moment - buy a ball of yarn and get a free sock pattern. It's very straightforward :) Worth having a practice first though - it took me a few turns before i figured out where best to hold the needles I was knitting from and too! Also, if you search for sock knitting on youtube, there are some good demos so you can get a visual idea of how they work.
For a baby, I would've thought beanie hats would be easy enough to do - but think how cute he/she will look in dinky handknitted socks! ;)
