Old watch bits ?

I am looking for some old watch bits to incorporate into some jewellery. Anybody know where I should start looking (and don't say on my wrist !!)..

Hi, have you tried flea markets, car boot sales or junk shops? Ebay may be a good place to start aswell (it's amazing what you find on there!)

I would try your local Freecycle site and see what you can get for free.

old watches are becoming very sought after now due to steampunk jewellery.
I would search out some at car boots,charity shops , it's also worth trying your local auction houses as these sometimes have bags of old bits and pieces that can go quite cheap, just remember to add the auctioners fee though !

I've been buying them on Ebay UK . . there's a lot more than you think . . but beware . . people who restore watches are buying this stuff too . . and they tend to bid high to get a particular part or setting.

Thanks everyone for your advice ! I didn't realise I had hit on something so sought after !! I thought it was just a case of turning someone elses unwanted bits into something lovely.

I've never heard of steampunk jewellery Becky, I will have a look at this.

any wiser ?,lol,nor me but as far as i can see steampunk is a mix of new and old parts put together to form an industrial style

there are a few people in the UK branching out into steampunk but it has seen the biggest rise in popularity in the USA

Definitely try Freecycle. You could post a "wanted" - and I'm sure you'd get replies. People are sometimes very glad when their unwanted stuff gets used.
