Well, I'm hopefully signing for the rent of a small art studio tomorrow, and registering as a small business. I'm signed up for the council's business start up workshops, and have a list of people to nag for some financial help.
AM now pooping self a bit. It's only been 3 weeks of me trying to see if I can sell, but have about £800 of orders so far, worth a trial few months anyway! Fingers crossed!

Well done, I hope you have your Business Plan in place too! I noticed you said you have a list of people to "nag" for financial help, but don't forget to include things like start up grants, women in business and all the other initiatives that you may be entitled to - Even if you get a couple of hundred pounds, it pays some rent..:D

The workshops are for me to complete my business plan (which currently consists of 'sell some stuff' ;))
Oh I hadn't thought of women in business. I'm a bit clueless about this

£800 of orders in 3 weeks is brilliant. I've just had a look at your website, and your jewellery is gorgeous. So, the best of luck to you.

Are you in touch with your local Business Link. I haven't managed to get any funding, but they have given me some individual advice, and they run free seminars.

Well, you would be surprised how many folk miss that one off!

By the way, I am not sure how old/young you are, have you also looked at The Princes Trust.. they offer all sorts of help to younger people to establish new businesses.

My nice business link lady rang me today - she's the one sorting the workshops out. Must find some grown up clothes without baby food on ;)

ETA: I'm still not in profit yet! Hoping it won't be too long though :-S

All the best wishes in the world. Sounds like you have got yourself on fairly firm ground having successfully sold yourself and your product. Keep us posted if you get time.

I think you'll do very well indeed!

Your jewellery isn't just gorgeous (which it definitely is), it's the kind of stuff people will identify with. It's got personality!!

Tiny Bird, Bad Apple and My Cat is Mad are especially fab!

Well done so far, and good luck :)

:DHi good luck with your venture. :)

You can only get it right by getting out there and doing it,

and don't be afraid to make mistakes...as long as they're not too costly ones !!

Love your web name by the way, unfortunately can't link to it to see the lovely things everyone is commenting on. Will try another time. :D

thank you! Moving my stuff into the studio end of next week - seeing the business advisor on Tuesday (he sounds ace!)
It's all a bit exciting!
I've got 15 pieces of jewellery to finish, a webshop to do and re-do my photos and entrie website by Monday. Erm....
Good job the kids are having a well-behaved day so far!
