Hi

Is there anyone teaching for the local college in Cheshire, preferable West Cheshire College or Mid Cheshire College, who would be willing to let me sit in on one of their sessions to gain experience for my course?

I am doing a PTLLS course and need to watch someone experienced in teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector eg Adult courses.
Preferably in jewellery making (either SilverClay/PMC or beaded jewellery), photography or makeup.

Many thanks.

Hi

I may be able to help out if you don't have any luck with your colleges of choice, although it may not be ideal, as I don't teach jewellery. I've got 14 years' experience of teaching, and am just about to start working for Warrington Collegiate, after accepting redundancy from prison education. I don't have any definite hours for craft courses yet, although I do have hours for teaching Adult Literacy - probably not your thing?

I would suggest, however, that you first contact the nearest colleges to you directly and ask if there is anyone who would let you observe a class. Colleges are usually very helpful.

Best wishes :)

Thanks Wendy, I did query the course tutor regarding this but to no avail, as I think that most, if not all, of the other people on the course have work related opportunities to view other teachers.
I was just trying all tactics! But I have discovered a jewellery department (never having been to that particular college previously) - so will try there. Also via other forum sections have remembered there is another jewellery department in Wirral - so will try them as well.

Would you believe I'm moving house as well! There is nothing like being a glutton for punishment!

Good luck - I understand all about being a glutton for punishment - I accepted redundancy, moved house and set a business up all at once. Not only that, the house hadn't been lived in for over two years and needed the works!!

Hope you have an easier time of it! :)

Best wishes with the teaching obs.
