HI,
Does anyone on here happen to know where I could buy approx 25 sheets of the iridescent soap wrap? The sell it on a website I found but minimum order is 20 pounds.. any supplier help would be great.
Thanks

You could try here, though I've never used them.

does soap wrapping have to meet a particular standard like food wrap does?? if not, how about using florist cellophane?? you can get it in 5m lengths on ebay for a few pounds.
I often use the spotty and irridescent ones for gift wrapping.

Thanks for that.. funnily enough though they are the same company as the one I found, only trading under a different name. I suppose they would be fine.. I have used the other supplier that I found and they were good. ;)

Packaging for soaps is a soap makers biggest headache!
Ask me how I know?
For CP it needs to be breathable - and look attractive.
For M&P cellophane is fine - I think - it is not something I make.

Thanks sparkysdad,
I just had a look on ebay, yes they look good, but if there is an iridescent one you buy can you point me to it as looking at a picture on there it is difficult to tell if it is iridescent or clear? I prefer to go iridescent. The shipping cost is kept down well too, didn't want to fork out a pile for just one roll of paper!

Don't know if its any use for soapers etc but check out Keylink for packaging, they supply chocolate makers and have some great FREE catalogue's including packaging and some of it looks very fancy.
see here; http://www.keylink.org/working-with-keylink/index.html

more to it than you realise isn't there....
i got the m&p ( melt and pour ) but whats CP?, sorry i might be being really dim here
all that goes into soap making it amazes me that people charge such a reasonable price

Right here goes:
HP or CP = Hot or Cold Process Soaps are made with oils and butters from scratch. in our case olive oil, shea or mango butter, coconut oil and others.
M & P = Melt & Pour - which is exactly that, you buy pellets, melt them an pour them into moulds. Most M & P soaps have chemical preservatives in them.
It is a little like the difference between buying a cake mix or making a cake with butter flour eggs & sugar.
You can always tell M & P as they are usually transparent and brightly coloured like these

I have seen some beautifully crafted M & P soaps, like the ones bathbomb.com showed us yesterday, and I have seen some pretty awful ones.
Hope this explains

They can sometimes look as dense as CP - the clue is normally in the ingredient listing.

Yes, it is quite unfortunate.
Most customers don't realise that we do not use the same ingredients nor produce as the "big boys".

Believe me, I have tried so many different things.
I think the least done is the best...and when mailing soap, I end up sticking it in a ziplock bag anyway, because of humidity.
My newest idea is sticking one of my own homegrown ORGANIC (woooo) fried flowers in a recycled paper bow aropund my wash cloths and gift sets. (See my post under potpourri.)
I am also experimenting with making recycled handmade seeded paper and using that to wrp the soap bars in...and even the sets...if I ever get it perfected I will post a photo. But you can't print on it, so I end up sticking an ingreds label in with it - gets to be ridiculous...SOMEday I will have THE answer to it all...

I went on a mission.. and I found 3 sheets of iridescent paper in the Birthdays store in the wrapping paper section, the sheets are large, although they call it tissue paper but its plastic.. 1.75 for three sheets. I only do this for a hobby and so am only wrapping things for friends and family, but I must say it works a treat, now to find it on the web somewhere!!! So they do do it!
Thanks for all the replies!
Nadine:)
