Hi I am new to the forum.
I have been trying to find a decent wood merchant that can supply wood for toy making (i.e. not building merchants/B&Q types) but seem to be having trouble.
I live in Bedfordshire but would be willing to travel to visit a decent supplier who could supply by post after my 1st visit. I would also be happy to order over the internet.
There are a number of Richard Blizzard projects I am under increasing pressure to make :) but would really like to find a proper timber merchant.
At the moment I cannot be specific what types of wood, but am very happy to take advice on which woods are best and maybe who may stock them.
Finally, I did do a search of the forum before posting this and apologies if my search skills are currently now up to scratch and there are already topics on this subject.
Thank you in advance for any help.

HI Have a look at the supplier I have quoted. I have not used them personally, but I do have a relative who has regularly had various hardwoods from them, and he cannot speak highly enough of the service they provide.
I suppose it all depends on what you want and the sizes etc, plus it is not local to you, but it may be worth a look

They are based near MATLOCK in Derbyshire. If you take the road from Matlock to Tansley, you will find them on a bend in the road.
I know what you mean about the Blizzard stuff. I love it. Years ago I made the artic truck and trailer for my son, who loved it. It Looked really great as I used a variety of hardwoods for the cab. It is solid too, as it has now been passed on to other younger members of the family

Another vote for Yandles - I've been there a few times and and it's an absolute treasure trove for the wood lover! Great service too.

No, no, no whitepebble, your driftwood stuff is just too, too gorgeous!!!! Why do I see these things when I have no money??? One day I will buy something from you!! I have added you to my favourites and will keep checking your site. I like your photos too!
I love driftwood, and I love what you've done with it. I've done a bit of work with driftwood myself (not on your scale) and it's no wonder I can never find any when I visit Devon - it's all at your house ;)! I remember walking along a beach in Cornwall, collecting driftwood and my teenage daughter, three paces behind, hissing at me "stop it mum, people are looking!"
If your wife ever gets totally fed up of the driftwood and the driftwood carrier bags littering up the place, send her to live with my super-tidy other half who cannot understand my passion for the stuff nor my creative genius;), which he mistakes for plain untidiness. I could come and collect driftwood with you. On second thoughts, maybe not. I do need someone to tidy up after me, slightly more than I need driftwood :D !!

What's wrong with that? It's only wood. If you have too much let me know and next time I visit my sister I'll pop in and help you get rid of some of it:sm:
