View Full Version : Pouring Temp For Soy Wax ???
Hi all
I am learning to make soy candles and have read lots of information and watched lots of clip's on how to do it. HOWEVER ...
Many say different things about the pouring temperature.
What temperature shall the first pour AND second pour be ?
Thanks

Are you referring to making pillars and votives?
I usually do the first pour at about 72C and the 2nd at around 80C. The 2nd pour should always be a bit hotter than the first so it can melt in. Otherwise you'll get a line showing where you've repoured and sometimes the repoured bit might fall off.
I also tend to zap the set part of the candle with my heat gun before I do a repour. I find it helps to blend the 2 pours together.
Hi Ruby
Thank you so much for your help.
I've been pouring it alot hotter than 72c for both pillar and votives. I'll try 72c and 80c.
Do i do the same for candles i'm making with two colours? Last time i tried to make a two colour votive, with the second pour the first colour sort of blended in with it which looked o.k if your going for that kind of look, but i wasn't.
Thanks
Nat
