Thread help

This is mainly for the jewlery makers out there. If I were to attatch beads to the front of my cards, what would be the best way to do it? Would thread suffice? I quite like the idea of something see through for my wedding stationery - is that tigertail etc? Would the things suggested tie neatly or be secure with sellotape?
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Maybe thread the cord through small holes in the front of the card then tie them on the inside and hide the knot with a 'panel' of same coloured card.

I can do that with thread but I was wondering if the see through stretchy stuff (tigertail?) would tie neatly.

Definitely not tigertail, it's not see through! Maybe monofilament otherwise called illusion cord (by Beadsmith) or just some finshing line? All these are not very stretchy though.

The stretchy stuff is Stretch Magic or Elasticity. But that's very very stretchy (for bracelet).

Im glad you mentioned fishing wire.

I have a question about it.
I think its a grea thing to use for necklaces as it looks like it will never break, but the fact that it doesnt break worries me.
If for some bizarre reason a necklace made with fish wire were to get caught and the person was left hanging by the neck because it wouldnt break fills me with fear.
Im assuming necklace 'wire' would break at some point.
Is it a recognised safe necklace making product?

I'm aware that this post is old, but I've only just joined and thought I may be able to help.

Fishing wire may not be safe as others have pointed out, but I do know of something else which may help you attach your jewellery to cards. Most of my friends are magicians and they use something called invisible thread, its stretchy and virtually invisible to the naked eye (on light coloured backgrounds anyway). It wont be strong enough to make jewellery, as its very fine, but will be perfect to fix things to cards.

I've just been and bought some fishing wire - found some in the pound shop and it looks pefect!! I love the poundshop :D If it doesn't work then I will look up this invisible wire - thanks!!

Did you manage to find some? We sell the full range of Illusion cord made by Beadalon - it is called 'Supplemax' and comes in many diameters. You can find it on eBay - just search on Supplemax.

Unlike fishing wire, Supplemax does not yellow or go brittle with age. It is specifically designed for Illusion Jewellery making.

As to the strength, it is very strong. But then so is Beadalon or Softflex so from a safety perspective, potentially all Beading cords could be dangerous if caught! Likely though, the weakest point is where it joins the clasp and generally necklaces or bracelets will come apart at this point.
