:mf:Congrats! :mf:

Lookin' good! I recognize the bag from your site too. You must be thrilled!

As long as Vogue are okay with it, I don't see why you shouldn't put it up there in your site... any advertising is good advertising. Showing you were in Vogue is bound to get people interested, right?

i dont mean this in a bad way but you have an advert in Vogue magazine which you have paid for, anyone can pay for an advert in a magazine. So morally its not really right to put "as seen in vogue" as its not an editorial piece, (unless it is, and if it is thats great).

As its just a paid for advert as a customer looking at your website I would think thats a bit of a cheat to say "as seen in vogue"

It's not just an ordinary advert though - it's a feature page which is a bit different.

Shows up well on the page Dee

It does have an editorial piece linking to it, so i'm not sure how much writing you have to have with it to say its an editorial piece? I dont really care am just happy about it!It's not like i asked them to advertise, they approached me :) so as far as i'm concerned it's been featured.

Hi Dee

I was going to message you but you beat me to it. I got my copy today in the post too! Your bag looks fab and in prime page spot too. I am in again this month also!

WELL DONE it really looks great! You must be delighted.

Forgot to say you will get a thousand calls now trying to sell you advertising! Think carefully about what you are trying to achieve, they can be pretty persuasive, and you can't do it all!

i dont understand why people are saying well done and what a great achievement. Its a paid for advert, yes its a feature but it was paid for. Great you have an advert in vogue but anybody with enough money can put an advert in vogue, cosmo, fhm, glamour etc.

Please dont take this personally as its nothing against you but its not a great achievment if you have paid for it. People do it every month. Would be an achievement if they had written a page editorial for you for free, come and taken pics and done an actual article about you, but paid for is completely diffrent.

And as mentioned before its totally immoral to put "as seen in vogue" on yoru website, stall etc. It leads potential customers to think vogue have writteen an article about you but in actual fact you have paid them for an advert. I would be very annoyed as a customer to find this out and would feel lied too.

I'll probably get slated for posting thsi but just stating my opinion. Paid for adverts are not an achievement.

If everyone got chosen to put there creations in Vogue then I think it would be a very long read......the editors think carefully about who gets in. This is a very friendly forum and we like to be happy for other people's achievements, if you were happy about something then i'm sure other people would be for you too. Don't put a downer on my happiness!!!

sorry, I disagree. From the what Dee said in a previous post, they contacted her first, and even if she did pay something to get in there, her ad/ designs must be attractive enough to Vogue to warrant them wanting to add her (specially as it was linked to a feature). Am sure Vogue don't want any old rubbish in their mag, even if its paid for!

Hope that makes sense, and well done Dee, you should make the most of it!

I suppose I feel a bit personal about this too as I was also asked to be featured in Vogue April edition.

Both Dee and myself had emails out of the blue to say that Vogue had seen our products and wanted them in the magazine.

Yes we paid for the advertising space as it were, but Vogue do hand pick the companies they feature in these advertorials. They have a very prestigious readership and if they were to just have any old product in the magazine it would no longer be Vogue!

I get the feeling there is a touch of the green eyed monsters around, which is a bit of a shame.

mumble mumble swear swear.... want to say a lot more things but will keep it to myself! Lets keep the forum happy.

Your bags are lovely and Bespoke Designs, you keep on creating and don't be put off, keep posting pictures of your designs on here, I am sure that you will receive favorable comments.

I can honestly say that I would buy a bag if I liked it, whether it was feature in Vogue or not and for those who would only buy it because it had been featured in Vogue and NOT because they really like it must be pretty shallow, thats all I can say!!!

If Vogue emailed me I'd probably drop down dead with the shock!!!:p

Maybe I am wrong but i would think that that is a priviledge to be approached by Vogue, especially if they are featuring a picture and a write up (large or small). I don't read Vogue and never have and I don't really understand how these editorial / adverts work but the thing that you cannot argue with is that you were approached and your bag was included in the mag and not in an individual advert placed by you. "As seen in Vogue" - appears imo to be correct:D.

Having said all that - this forum congratulates many people for many things and I think Dee is quite right to be proud - good on you girl!:sm:

(Can you put a word in at Vogue for me!!!!)

Hi
I'd be happy to see any of my items in vogue no matter whether I had paid or not.
I think it is a confidence booster and we all have to try and believe in our skills as so often they are not recognised.
As the saying goes from "little acorns grow oak trees" you never know what will come off the advert.

Life is never predictable so you need to grab opportunities however they come up.
Go for it Dee....go for it Dee.......

Take care

I'm really pleased for yu and hope lots of biz comes from your advert. I'm not jealous as some have said. And I think its good you are in vogue, all I wsa saying its a paid for ad and not an achievement. THey asked you to be in it yes, you paid them. It was a sales call. In the last year I have had sales calls from Vogue, FHM, Easy Living and Glamour to name a few, as well as regular emails.

THey are sales people. Magazines are in dire straits just now and all adversiting counts, hence a double page spread on handbags plus all the other feature pages. The editorial content of those ads is generally written by the advertiser, I know this having advertised with them and working in ads for the last 15 years.

Now I am reaaalllly happy for you and best of luck with the advert. No doubt I'll still be slanged for this but a forum is a place for different opinions. I am not knocking you down and as a strong person you shouldnt caare what i think (that will be quioted i bet). Magazines need adverts, adverts need to be paid for, even Vogue. Have a look at all the other ads in it, as long as yuo have a website that works people paying money generally arent turned away by any magazines.

Good luck with the ad.

There must be quite a few of us cheeky people out there, as I was curious about this too ;)

Thought your bag was lovely and I'd definitely be using the piece to promote my business further - so you go girl! :)

I can't believe all the replies this thread has received!!Thank you everyone your support means alot!

Carol (Linden blossom), I havn't done any advertising at all, this was my 1st! I had been umming and aaahing for a while as I have had other requests before from newspapers, advertising websites and magazines, but I thought it was too much to pay and possibly not the right market.(I am also very skint!!!)

I decided to take the plunge with Vogue though, and no, it wasn't cheap! But as it's the only advertising I have done I thought it would be worth it.

I still can't believe it, at uni and previous jobs I've had we used to take our design inspiration from Vogue,so looking up at the shelves and knowing that my bag is in there is worth it :) I still thought it was all fake when I received my copy through the post!!

So thanks again everyone, I will keep you posted as to whether it was worth it. Oh, and I am still going to say 'as seen in vogue'- because, I can see it!It's there! Can you see it!!!?!xx

Zukie, good luck with teh add and certainly let us know how you get on. Did you take a one-off or a series of ads? I did a couple of one-offs in glossies and was then hounded to take more, discounts for series advertising etc, be careful as they can make it sound really worthwhile but bear in mind they are after the money for their bonuses adn generally dont geniunely care what the ad is like/what it brings in.

The more often you appear it will obviosuly give readers more awareness of you and yur brand but at a cost. Dont be fooled into going in every month. Choose your months wisely and spaced out, also choose depending who is going to be on that editions cover, (if they will tell you, often they wont say).

Editors have nothing to do with advertising or advertorial paid for pages so the sales people decide who and what to target. If they cotton on to you as a new advertiser wanting their name out there they will call daily, weekly and offer you good as gold "discounts" which are not discounts at all. Be careful as a new advertiser and them approaching you, you are a little rabbit in the headlights to them.
