Hi
Really sorry to sound thick, but i'm trying to find out the amount of fragrance to use.
Does it roughly work out to be 5-8ml of frangrance per 100 grams.
I only ask as this seems a large amount. i am using uk fragrance oil, if that makes a difference.:sm:

Hi,

If you weigh the fragrance oil as well as the wax then you will get the proper ratio i.e. 100g wax start with 5g FO - digital scales will probably be the easiest to use here.

You may want to try out some initial attempts with small wax melts as you can judge the dry aroma quality and the wet arome in a burner - plus is saves on not wasting too much wax until you get nearer the right proportion of wax:FO (then you can start working out the right type of wick!!!!).

Hope this helps.

The amount of FO varies but a ball park figures is 5% FO so if you use 100g of wax you would use 5g of oil. Some oils are more dense than others and you will use less some you will use more.

Hi, is it the same for paraffin and soya wax? Kind regards Diane

Hi Diane, you tend to use a little more with soy than with paraffin. I'm a soy chandler and I use 8-9% ratio. Paraffin is usually 6% and palm is 5%.

One more question Ruby - do you know where I can buy transfer pipettes to measure the fragrance, I'm not having much luck sourcing them. xx

Hi. The amount of fragrance to use depends on the fragrance. Fragrances are made to different strenghts. Using too much is a waste and can effect the stability of your candle, using too little and you won't get a good scent throw. Your supplier should be able to tell you what % the fragrance has been made to.

Yes 5-8% is what most people use ...it really does depend on the wax you are using, as some you can use up to 12% fragrance in some soy waxes :)
