I have just started making things with felt and it's going really well. I am only making stuffed cushions and toys at the moment.
However, I was bought a lovely mothers day gift. A little potted plant in a lovely felt "bucket".
The felt is really thick and the thing stands up lovely on it's own, quite solid.
I would love to make some of my own for family and friends as gifts, but the only felt I can get is thin.
is there a way to stiffen it or can anyone tell me where to find thick felt.

It might be made with handmade felt, although some industrial felts are much thicker than craft felt.
I don't know what the minimum purchase from British Felt Company (http://www.britishfelt.co.uk/felt.htm) would be, worth asking though as they have craft felt as well as industrial felt.

You can make 3D objects using the really thin whispy bits of felt which look like sheeps wool. I've seen examples that have been made before, and I think you just rub it together when wet with washing up liquid, around a shape/object or make flat pieces and then build onto them whilst moulding it into a form.
Sorry thats not much help!

Most of the little bows and things you see made from felt are either hand or needle felted I think. Some are just lovely!
I SO wish I wasn't horribly allergic to wool :(

I sell 4mm thick felt which would probably do the job, but I'm stock taking and moving premises at the mo so can't process or dispatch anything until 22nd April. But if you can wait that long, I'm sure I can help you out !!

Thanks Sarah,
I was actually directed to your site by someone on the Green Parent Forum too.
I have bookmarked your site and will try to wait patiently until after April 22nd.
It will give me time to save up, I'll have to get some stuff flogged on ebay.
I must say that I don't like sites like yours, there's just too much nice stuff :D:D:D:D
everytime I click on a product it's "ooohh, I like that, I want that, I could use some of that";)

There's too many sites like that from members on this forum, you could spend a fortune if you're not careful! :p
