Ive been prettying up some little bottles Ive got but one of the cork tops was falling apart so I went to replace it with one from an identical vial.
I went to unplug the cork stopper and the replecement one snapped in 2!!

So I thought to myself, carefully use the pliers and take out the rest of it..BUT..whatever you do DONT apply too much pressure a push the half of the stopper into the bottle because that would render the hole thing useless.

Guess what I did.

So despite my trauma at wasting a bottle Im wondering why the cork beacme so brittle.
Does it need to be kept in a moist atmosphere?
Do any of you have any cork knowledge?Maybe anybody that likes a liddle drinky in the evening may have extensive cork knowledge.

Yep..
You can use steam to speed up the process..

With cork board i've strightened bent one with a steam ion .. Does work (most of the time)

Theres nothing worse than an uneven cork board.

Its written in the Bible....and on Sunday, thy stopped watching Keeping up Appearances and thy got out thine ironing board and flattened ye cork.

The reason wine bottles are stored on their sides is so that the cork stays moist and does not not shrink or become brittle!!
