I began last summer and have sold at car boots, the odd local craft fair but mainly to work collegues. I'm about to do a metal working course!! but i am interested in doing big shows in and around the county any tips?

I think the best advise I can give is when you do the craft fairs etc, is think about height/levels. If your table is low, customers don't like bending over for long, I've been known to raise my tables with blocks as well as having levels on the table. For me ideally the table height should be at the average persons hip.
