Found this article (http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20026873.200-neural-knitworks-an-exercise-in-woolly-thinking.html) in New Scientist last week, which is bizarre, but fascinating and might be of interest to knitters and quilters.

Detailed pictures can be seen here (http://harbaugh.uoregon.edu/Brain/index.htm).

The amount of work that's gone into creating that brain is amazing.

Just found this (http://harbaugh.uoregon.edu/Brain/Bachy/index.htm) too, a little something for the wood crafters out there.

"There are plenty of rugs that show flowers and cats and lighthouses," she points out. "Why not fMRI scans?"

Yes, what's wrong with MRI scans? So who's going to volunteer for the lungs or intestines? I think a nice pair of knitted kidneys would look nice.... :D

How odd is that - can you imagine the look on people's faces when they ask what you're knitting? :p

And get you Elinor, reading New Scientist! Just finished Heat myself :D

I seem to remember there is a digestive system on knitting pattern central.

My OH has it on subscription, I do dip in from time to time, it can be quite interesting, I am quite interested in science. I draw the line at the Economist though, which he also gets

I haven't looked through the new scientist for ages! I found it great for the jobs pages!

I am a breastfeeding supporter & knitted breasts are used a lot to demonstrate to Mothers how to position babies on their breast & how the baby should be attatched correctly to feed, they are a valuable tool but are in short supply & I'm no knitter!
