Kids Oven Gloves

I've been asked to make some - not the individual mits but the ones that are joined and you slip your hands in the pockets at either end - iykwim!!

Does anyone know of a tutorial out there?

Or failing that does anybody have a pair at home they could measure the dimensions of for me?

Great news on getting the order and I'm sorry but I can't help you. I just thought its a bit of a strange request asking for kids oven gloves. :confused: Whenever I've baked with kids I'm the one that does the lifting in and out of the oven.

I have to agree with auntynet - seems a little dangerous to be honest. There is no way I would let any of my children take anything out or put anything in the oven! Even if they did have oven gloves they could drop whatever they are holding and burn their feet (yup, I have done that a few times myself....)

If you haven't got kids yourself can you not borrow one of the neighbour's or a friends and just draw around their hand.

I have had a google and the only place I can find any child size are on a hand made site. I wonder if the risk of kids using them for real is too high? Lots of aprons and chefs hats but no oven gloves for kids.

If you check out sites like Lakeland (http://www.lakeland.co.uk) you'll find a selection of oven gloves, with measurements. They do vary quite a bit, but at least it's a start.

Well, I had to agree with the first two opinions, I was a little worried. My Tayla is 10 and quite a sensible girl and does do a bit of cooking in the kitchen (in the micro) because I wouldn't let her put things in and out of the oven. :o

I suppose for a toy kitchen is a good idea, helps the little one feel they are really cooking.

Good luck with the order. You may start a trend. :D

At the end of the day it is down to the parent to make sure the child is safe, not the maker of the gloves.

I got round to making the oven gloves as well as a matching apron that I hear were well received

I thought at first ooh err at kiddies oven gloves but only for a second, my Lo has the mitt type gingham ones she plays for hours with the role type toys so I figured quickly that was what your customer meant ;) hehe

The end result is absolutely gorgeous! :mf: I reckon they would sell easily without being made by request too!

Kitchen / housework chore related items are always a good toy sell as they never go out of fashion.
