My usual candle supplier has stopped making candles and so I though I would try to make some myself. I really want to set up to make colourful large scented candles, I have never done this before and need to purchase everything I would require. I was wondering if any members have equipment they would like to sell or could recommend a good supplier. I would really appreciate any tips or helpful advice. Where could I obtain large interesting moulds, what wax would be best to use, do I need special equipment to melt the wax etc?

Hi Chris,

I did a candle tutorial a while back I will have a look for it and post a link it has all the information you need to get started.

Here it is candle tutorial (http://articles.ukcraftwebsites.co.uk/2007/04/27/to-make-your-first-candle///).

We have lost a few candle making suppliers over the past couple of years however we still have a few left.

I have used Jo Sensory Perfection (http://www.sensoryperfection.co.uk) and Full Moons Cauldron (http://www.fullmoons-cauldron.co.uk/candlemakingsupplies.htm)and can recommend both of them. Another is Candlemakers UK (http://www.candlemakers.co.uk) although I haven't used them.

For moulds you can use pretty much anything as long as it is water tight, can withstand the high temp of melted wax and the bottom of the candle is the same size or bigger than the top (this would be the top of the mould when pouring!!!)

Anything else just shout.

Cheers.

Lisa
