Wiring a plug legally

I was watching GMTV this morning and there was a reprt that most youngish people are bad at DIY, cant sew a hem or wire a plug.
In the case of wiring a plug, isnt it illegal and has to be done by a qualified electrician?!

Nope I think wiring a plug is fine cos it's something we were taught to do in school. Think its more complicated electrical work that has to be done by an electrician.

Last summer hubby was putting up our new kitchen units...he drilled right through an electric cable and everything went bang!

Glad to hear we are allowed to wire plugs, it would just be silly if we coudnt.Mr Electrician would be very rich.
