Hi All,

Just trying out an idea I found on the internet somewhere for Apple & Cinnamon scented baubles/ air fresheners....it is so easy that thought I'd share it. A great activity to do with older children too.

You will need:

Applesauce
Ground Cinnamon
(Optional: Flour - see notes)

Cookie Cutters
Cocktail Stick/ Kebab Skewer
Ribbon

***

1. Mix the Applesauce and Cinnamon together and mix until firm like pastry.
2. Roll it out and then cut out different shapes using the cookie cutters.
3. Punch a small hole in the top of the shape. (For tying ribbon through later)
4. Place on a drying rack and leave for a few days to dry fully.
5. Tie ribbon through hole and then hang anywhere!! I bet it'd be great in the car or over a radiator?

I have just made my mixture...I found that I was using loads of cinnamon, so I have cheated slightly and added some old flour to the mix to help it bind. Just about to roll it out and cut shapes.

I'll let you know how it goes - it smells wonderful though!

Some other ideas/ variations:

I was thinking that I could probably make lots of these really cheaply using the cheap tins of pie filling whizzed up in the food processor instead of paying for applesauce.

I am also thinking about adding different spices to the mixture like Allspice or even Orange Essential Oil??

I am going to go to Julian Graves now and see if I can get a larger qty of cinnamon a bit cheaper.

They sound lovely, let us know how you get on. Can you still smell the apple once it's all dried out. Great idea- thanks for sharing :)
