For those of you who asked on the other thread I now have my mum's marzipan recipe. This is for marzipan to put on a cake and for simple sweets, for fine moulding and shaping you'll need a different recipe.

You will need
8oz ground almonds
4oz icing sugar
4oz caster sugar
2-4 egg whites

Method
* Mix all the dry ingredients together
* Use a large spoon to mix in the egg whites - start with 2 and then add a little bit more at a time if necessary
* Using your hands mix together - the warmth of your hands will get the oil in the almonds to soften and helps bind it together

And it's as easy as that :)

Hi there,

Just saw the other post for homemade marzipan and as I made my xmas cake last Saturday I'm going to try your mums marzipan this year! :)

Thanks so much for sharing the recipe!

Thanks for posting that Net. I don't think I've got time to try it this year - far too much to do already - but I may give it a try next year in preparation for doing marzipan sweets for presents.

I think I will try that recipe! Thanks Nettie's mum!!!! This has just reminded me to go and slosh some brandy over the two cakes - one for us and one for my sister!!! She works and I don't so I make her cake and Christmas pud for her. Sue xx:mf:
