I'm also at home with my 2 boys (6 and 2). I went straight back to work after my first was born but reluctantly gave up my job after No.2 due to finding (and paying for) nursery's and childminders etc.
When I was working in the real world I had the most fantastic job and I really miss it. Right in amongst every art and craft material you can think of.
I have a 9-5 office job but hope to give it up all up by the end of the year to work from home :D Can't wait!

I hope it happens for you Bea.
I work 8.30(or when I can drag myself in coz nobodys here coz I have to open up)to 5.30(sometimes I can leave at 5).
I sit on my bum all day, hence the 2 stone weight gain, answering phones that hardly ever ring.As i type Im holding a phone to my ear to a supplier, Ive been holding for about 6 minutes.
I hate my job
The only good thing is that the bosses dont mind me doing my hooby. If it wasnt for this job I wouldnt know about scrapbooking as I saw it all online, I can look for craft shops online and I can order lots of lovely things, and I can chat to people on forums like this.
I yearn for a job I enjoy that pays a good wage, I am still looking.
Im finally off the phone after about 12 minutes, my arm hurts.

I am one of those truly lucky people who don't think they "work" coz they are having so much fun!!!
I have two online bead stores that keep me busy from 9am til midnight.
In the quieter moments I create jewellery that I sell on a party plan basis and also at a local producers market.
I also teach beading workshops and do childens beading parties.
So the short answer is
I HAVE FUN!!

I forgot to say I work in a computer maintenance company.
We have no heating(until the afternoon) and the floor are bare floor boards.
Im surrounded by computer parts and people who only really talk about computers or computer related things and its yucky and boring. And they expect me to know what they are on about when they say 'has the tape drive backed up'!!!

Hiya,
Thought I'd jump into this discussion! I'm a stay at home mum too and have a daughter who is 2 and another baby due in July (very excited - can't wait!). Before I had my daughter I was a primary school teacher and I hated it. I'm very lucky in that I don't have to work at the mo so can concentrate on setting up my business - card making and children's craft parties. Going slow at the moment but heres hoping........ :D

OK I'm gonna join in too :)
I spend most of my time now on the business but I still work a few days a week as a careers adviser. Would love to give it up completely but then think I might miss the contact with real people - if you can describe teenagers as that! :?

Why did you hate being a primary school teacher?

Actually loved the teaching part - it was the constant admin and tests and all the extra work. I would be in at 7.30 leave at 6.00 and stillhave to do work when I got home - I can't imagine doing it now with my daughter at home - I would never see her or my husband! Hopefully I'll not have to go back to it but if I have too at some stage then I will!

Stay-at-home through disability for me. Most of my time's taken up on the net with lots of sites :) Sometimes think I should be making money out of it somewhere, but that gets all complicated and stuff  Perhaps we should have an early warning system from you Mike, so we know which roads to avoid, and when!

You'll have to get an astronaut's spacesuit, Mike  You'd be the first fully plumbed-in driving instructor - and I can see where that could be a BIG advantage

Hello you crazy people (just read all yr posts!)
I run my own web design and marketing biz but am trying to restrict myself to spending 4 days a week on that and on Fridays workin on samples of t-shirts customised with antique fabrics/trimmings.
Find it hard to get motivated when working along - especially after being in a buzzy ofice all week! How do the rest of you make yourself stick to a project without distraction? I love the idea of doing this, but find it hard to actually start putting it into practice (and having confidence in my own taleents!)
 [/url]

I suppose I shall just have to focus! Maybe I should get someone to check up on me and reward me (with chocolate!) for working hard!
